Dear liverjournalness,
This is Charlie, K's alter egos other body. I just have to angsty vent about how I have terrible separation anxiety from my K self.
Amen and God bless. <><>

There is an overweight spaniel outside.
Lap lapping up water.
A good dog, no doubt.
Trusting and happy when you come home.
A dog smile present.
And what has the owner done?
Spend a little money.
Give the necessity of food.
A pet here.
A reprimand there.
Yet the dog loves it's human regardless.
It has no sense of past or future.
No cognitive depth.
In that dynamic,
is a dog even living?
They say when a person is in a vegitative state,
they cannot think, hardly respond,
and obviously cannot ration,
they are "non" humans.
They are not conscious to the point where
science has said they are "not living".
If this is a universal rule, then these dog-vegetables
could not be considered living organisms.
The only purpose both serve
is fond companionship.
Other than that -
a money pit.
Spent time that will not be reciprocated.
I'm just trying to bend rules here.

There is more than one way of thinking about everything.
They say couples who have the same type of humor have a more satisfying relationship.
I agree. But,
How did the people conducting the study figure out if one's relationship is "satisfying"?
To simply ask is to marinate the study in biased opinions.

Have you every looked through a screen and it threw your perspective off?
Have you ever though that looking through the glass did the same thing?
What if looking through your own eyes skewed your vision?
Has anyone seen the world through a completely unaltered medium?
If no one has, does it exist?
I suppose we all took the blue pill.

This is extremely unstructured rambling. Concise is not a word to describe this unthorough post.

What do you do when you have writer's block?
[info]authentiikate

You spill it all.
I prefer not to call it writer's "block".
Nothing is blocked.
I am only uninspired, by myself.
An illegitimate writer will complain about lack of stories.
A good writer finds intriguing stories everyday all around them.
I read up on this man, David Icke. He has this (conspiracy) theory about this pure reptilian bloodline. How all the leaders in the world are intrabred into this reptilian bloodline. Along with their incestuous ancestry comes shape shifting, which he leaves plenty of links to youtube videos where newscasters eyes shift, change color, and the texture of their skin morph on live TV. For some reason I want to believe it, but my skeptical predisposition would never allow it.

I went to church last Sunday, purely for educational purposes. Let's not be ignorant, to have a legitimate opinion on something, you have to know what you're talking about, empirical evidence helps. There is one major difference between myself and religious enthusiasts; it is logic. Not to say religious folk don't use logic, I cannot claim that, but they (they) use a different type of logic than myself. There are two types of logic: Inductive logic and deductive logic.
Inductive reasoning involves assessing a specific set of facts and coming to a general conclusion henceforth. This is the logic in which I live my life. I observe, I make an opinion in which I resolve as fact, for me. Without said evidence there is nothing to base an opinion (or fact) on. This is also the logic of the scientific method: the facts speak, and a conclusion is draw from those facts.
Simple example:  5 + 1 = 6     Six is an even number. So, the sum of two odd numbers will result in an even number.

Deductive reasoning works with premises that support a claim already made. Essentially, believe a claim and apprehend facts that support your original claim. This must be the logic that religious folk rely on. This method does not distinguish bias because the way deductive logic is structured only calls for traits that support the claim that you already believe in, everything else is thrown by the wayside.
Example:  Men are mortal.
Plato was a man.
Plato was mortal.
(ironic when the dynamic of God - an immortal)

I'm done with that.

Lets talk about 2012. Before I jump in, did you know that every 13 years the calendar repeats itself? So its 2010 right now, that means the calendars used in 1997 are identical to this years'. I've researched the whole doomsday idea, and although I like the idea of it (why not?) it is steamy pile of shit. December 12, 2012 marks the end of a 5,126 year era. It is a Long Count calendar that ended after Spanish colonization and resets at zero after 5,000 some-even years. It marks the end of their un-colonized cultural cycle, and is a fabricated chance for people to cash in. Some scholars say Mayan's knew that 2012 would mark the solstice sun residence in the center of the Milky Way hibbity who-ha. Whatever. This is real great shit, We all want to believe it. It just reminds me of April 26th 1992, "there was a riot in the streets, tell me where were you?" Sublime.  Oh the anticipation! Looking forward to the chaos. What primal idiots we are. Enjoy it. Here's a cartoon:

More later, I'm meeting Am.

A new world: Pharmacogenetics
[info]authentiikate
There is a new realm of medicine being explored. A new innovative way of analyzing medical treatments is about to rock the medical world: Pharmacogenetics. The name is quite literal, mixing pharmaceutical drugs and your individual genetics to personalize your medical treatments. This new approach will maximize drug response efficiency and minimize drug toxicity.
Effectiveness of drugs vary from person to person Instead of going by age and weight as doctors often do now, Scientists are now looking at how drugs get metabolized in the body, working with your genes on a molecular level for a more efficient treatment made for your coding personally. This genetic variation process is called single-nucleotide polymorphs or haplotypes.
This part gets a little complex, run with me: your DNA strands hold the blueprints for making proteins, the strands are made of  nucleotides. Single-nucleotide polymorphs (SNP), as the name suggests change a single DNA nucleotide. This alteration will change the protein coded in the DNA which coincidentally will make the protein function different or not at all. Haplotypes are just clusters of SNPs that will change multiple nucleotides in a protein.
In changing the sequence of a protein, the rate and what it metabolizes changes as well. If you have a defect in enzymes (catalyzing protein) that metabolize drugs you are at a high risk for toxic accumulation since the enzymes cannot keep up with the drug secretion. Some people have high levels of enzyme activity and require higher doses for the same response.
Genetic screening is extremely beneficial economically concerning drugs and ethically concerning patients. DNA analysis’s are still being made regarding genetic variation and  individual drug susceptibility and response.

A rule without exception:
[info]authentiikate
Every living thing is made of cells.
But
Just like everything major rule or law In the world-
There must be an exception:
A  living organism that is not made of cells.
For there are exceptions to everything.
But
What if there are absolutely NO such living things that are not made of cells.
What if there is no exception to this law.
And maybe the fact that ALL living things ARE made of cells, without exception
Is the exception to the rule that all laws and norms have exceptions.
The fact that there are no exceptions makes the law an exception itself from the rule that everything has an exception
since it inherently applies to all of its subjects, without exception.

La Barista
[info]authentiikate
If you take a plant and replant it upside down, if will right itself,
and so will I.

I sit at Starbucks.
Sometimes for hours.
I watch the people.
Ordering drinks in one breath, the same as yesterday.
I watch my little barista friends.
Chatting over a glass screen
Sit at the bar, the artery.

There's The cynacist, she has no faith in people. Everyone, unless proven otherwise is an idiot. I like her. She doesn't like me yet.

The Musician, sometimes he doesn't say anything, others you are compelled by his stories. His change in mood reflect his change in personality.

The Underestimator, he married young to a woman who looks more than undeserving. Him, I watch the most. Hunger in his eyes, an unbalance in his stomach makes him talk - and he has a lot to say. Just because there is a goalie doesn't mean you cant score.

The Reserve, at parties he gets drunk but at work he speaks little, ostracizing himself. He's got it in him, but he doesn't have the confidence to show it.

Then there's me. How do I look on behind the syrup sprayed glass. The indefinite wall that separates the two worlds of work and pleasure. What do you think when you see me every shift, when we touch eyes because I've been watching you. Yes as you think you are watching me from inside your coffee pot, I have been watching you from my backless high chair. Lend me your headset, lend me your apron. This glass wall is not so impenetrable.

Truth
[info]authentiikate
Truth is perspective.
Trust is subjective.
Truth is my Kaleidoscope when I look up expecting to see you.
Truth is my prokaryoktic stay.
Truth is my inability to accept you in your absence,
and truth is my fabrication of a pseudo-you,
a fictitious touch on my cheek,
a note in my ear echos absent whispers.

There is a deep rooted beauty in falling through the cracks, in scraping off the remains that formerly held your identity.
The inevitable feeling that comes with being so low on the food chain that no one dare inhale in your direction.
The fact that you have no where to go but up.
